In order to get the apothecary, I need to upgrade my crafting station with tungsten ore which isn't on my starter planet and I can't leave the starter planet until I get past the Erchius Mining Facility. You can initially unlock a double jump, a dash, and the ability to turn into a small ball and roll through tight spaces.
