Magnetic resonance imaging showed punctate enhancement in the pons, brachium pontis, midbrain and cerebral white matter. Midbrain lesions involved the bilateral red nuclei with ring-like enhancement. Treatment with steroids resulted in improvements in mild ataxia and brain lesions.
